idioms和Phrasal verbs词典也是少不了的

这种最讨厌，每个词都认识，连在一起意思就完全不同
多数词典还都不收，或者即使收了，也常常被淹没在主词条的一大堆释义里面，查得率很低
这时候就得靠idioms和Phrasal verbs词典
相关的资源似乎不多，宇宙盘里只搜到三个

牛津动词短语词典，有，甚至是双解的，不过是第一版的。

NTC's Thematic Dictionary of American Idioms
The American Heritage Dictionary of Idioms
Cambridge Idioms Dictionary
Oxford Idiom 2004（这个什么都查不出来，没研究具体因为什么）
主要问题是，无论idioms还是phrasal verbs词典，都没有那种大全集一站式的
有的收了这个有的收了那个，很零散，义项收的也不全
感觉各家出版社对这块都不太用心
全局搜索好像比什么都强：（longman5 extra）

这本最好，可惜没有电子版。而且也没见国内出版第二版。外研社说这本书取材最精审、解释最详明、例证最丰富、体例最严密。.

sign off on something
to sign a paper, indicating that one has finished with something or agrees with the state of something. The publisher signed off on the book and sent it to be printed. I refuse to sign off on this project until it is done correctly.

to make an attempt to do something give something a shot I wasn't sure of the answer, but I thought I'd take a shot at it anyway. He's proven himself to be a talented actor and now he's having a shot at directing.

我一直以来是这么查短语的：
在 朗文双解4 查了上面的几个词组，都能查到，不过需分别查heat，sign，pain，shot，再在GD里面ctrl+f，很快就能找到。
有时候柯林斯，韦氏高阶学习词典也能补充一下。
当然如果有本大而全的专门查短语的词典是极好的^_^

通过一番查询能找出传统词典的不足:take the heat 至少在不同的语境下有两个意思。
