“go to the cinema” vs. "go to school"

看来“go to the cinema”才是准确的。

而“go to school" vs. "go to the school"中学教的倒没错。

When you use 'go to cinema' you mean any cinema in general ,the concept of going to a movie theatre and watching a movie as in :

" Why do people like to go to cinema?"

If you are more specific and mention that you are going to watch a movie in the cinema and you certainly mean a certain movie and cinema in this case you say:

"I am going to the cinema tonight, would you like to join me?"

When you use 'go to cinema' you mean any cinema in general...

相反"go to the cinema"无穷多。

COCA、BNC两个英语语料库都搜不到“go to cinema”
"go to the cinema" 出现 448 次(US 33 次,GB 226 次)
"go to cinema" 出现 30 次(US 2 次,GB 7 次)
It's like those people who go to cinema and watch Bruce Lee film and come out thinking that if they wear kung-fu gear and perform moves in films then they are Bruce Lee.

go to cinema 例子确实少。
少得想跟俺当年的英语老师说,上课讲点别的吧。{:9_173:}

The New Pictures
The Man Without a Country.
They say that there was considerable of a struggle in the breast of the producer before they decided to leave this title in its place. It didn't seem to suggest bootlegging, seduction, happiness or any of the few inevitables for which people are supposed to go to cinema. Leave it he did, however, and thereby displayed rare good sense. For the picture, based upon the poem, is a sincere and sensitive document. It depicts the long sea exile of the man who said: "Damn the United States." It is an illustration of one of the sagas of U. S. history, and it deserves a place in everyone's calendar.

Going Wild
By DAVID SEIDEMAN/YOSEMITE
Sometimes the measures are even more drastic. On Memorial Day weekend last year, holiday gridlock at Yosemite forced rangers to close gates, turning away more than 750 vehicles. As a last resort, other parks, including Mammoth Cave, sell reserved tickets through a commercial agency, Mistix. David Mihalic, the former superintendent of Mammoth who now heads Glacier park, thinks rationing makes perfect sense to people: "When you go to Cinema 6 and Terminator 2 is sold out, maybe you go see another movie." Sacrificing some human concerns for nature's well-being may not please everyone, but the loss of paradise would prove even less popular.

World and I 一份美国杂志中仅出现一例。

忘了说,"go to cinemas"在longman5是有的。好像这种说法是正常的,排除掉这种情形,及“go to Cinema 6”,真正的“go to cinema"在jazzmood的三个例子中仅出现一次。
