查monetize
本帖最后由 elusty 于 2016-1-28 21:30 编辑今天查monetize，绝大多数EE词典，义项都是“铸币”、“转变为现金”或“确定为法定货币”的意思，唯有WBD和MED(在线版)给出了“赚钱”的解释，看来这两个词典的时效性很棒。
WBD：
monetize: to produce income or make a profit from
MED:

monetize: to earn money from something, especially something on the Internet, such as a website or piece of software
这是MED在线版给出的解释，离线的词典中，没有解释，说明在线版更新了。
CALD离线版中也有解释，但是离线版没有：

最常用六万字之后，还"应该"收什么其他字(或已收的字还"应该"增添什么其他定义或用法)，是个颇为主观(i.e.仁者见仁智者见智)的问题，于是甲字典里有的，乙未必有，and vice versa, for no single dictionary can include every word in a language.Since one ofthe reasons a book lover favours a particular dictionary is the range of words it includes (as demonstrated above and in many other places within and without this forum), checking the presence (or the absence) of some certain words might help one better understand those reference works, e.g....
常用率排名八万多的monetize 差不多本本词典都有收录,
排名前九千位的fluffer, 卻只有较实用主义+不拘泥的字典愿意收。。。
(区区识字少，一时只想到这些字做例子，别执怪。)
