CALD的短语优势north of v. south of
本帖最后由 elusty 于 2016-4-7 23:00 编辑今天碰到一个新短语，north of 300,000 dollars，查了查安装的词典，只有CALD给出了高于某一数值的含义，其他都是说方向的。
看来，CALD的短语真不错！

used to say that an amount is more than the stated amount:
The share price is expected to rise north of $20.

当然，at south of an amount就是低于某一数量了。

对了，SOED也有解释，但是平时CALD还是用的多一些。

当年朗文当代第一版， 大家对它的大量短语独立词条大为叫好。
各位大師制作的无数mdx中， 以cald 英英版的短语最易查, WALD 次之。

藏在 north 里。说明短语提取还是很有用的。不过这个例子我觉得只是 north 本身的一种引申义，正好有一种固定搭配。
