一个争议颇大且颇为有趣的词peruse，
不少词典列出2个意思（这2个意思互相矛盾），一个是仔细阅读carefully read，一个是浏览，匆匆阅读，随便翻翻，相当于browse，skim，Oxford concise，garner和American heritage的usage都指出这个skim一意是错误的，但不少词典却两个意思都列出，说明他们的编辑并不认为浏览一意是错误的，具体啥意思得看语境。这还真是个有趣的词，互相矛盾的意思集于一身。 sanction 也是。 Peruse has long meant “to read thoroughly” and is often used loosely when one could use the wordread instead. When asked about the sentence I only had a moment to peruse the manual quickly, 66 percent of the Panel found it unacceptable in 1988, 58 percent in 1999, and 48 percent in 2011.
