red meat不仅仅是红肉

最近的报刊和电视新闻在第二场辩论后频繁使用了red meat这个词，在韦小红和AHD中均有解释，但还是wiki 词典的解释最好：uncountable, politics, idiomatic Fresh, inspiring, or inflammatory topics or information，可粗略理解为新闻中的“”猛料“，例如”He gave a lot of red meat to the G.O.P. base, calling Mrs. Clinton a liar and calling for her imprisonment.

没装OED的词库，碰巧今天OED网我这老上不去，就没查OED，相比较wiki的这个解释我更喜欢。merriam和AHD在这个词条上的解释都不大那么容易让人懂。

AHD的解释：Language or discourse intended to stir the emotions of a given group, especially by appealing to or reinforcing partisan sentiments. 后面红线部分倒是补充了一些有用的信息，结合起来理解就比较完整了。merriam这个词条的解释，包括W3也用的一模一样的解释，不太好

By the way,pork and vealWBD说是红肉，但其他的例如merriam说是白肉，更奇葩的是WBD在white meat后又同时把veal列为白肉，难道一块肉既可以红又可以白吗？

刚才在Urban dictionary上看到一个例句，一下子就把political上应用的red meat是啥搞清楚了：The first 2011 Presidential debate in South Carolina was filled with questions about abortion, gay marriage, typical red meat. 有时候一些难以理解的词汇，如果总是虚虚地描述，不如直接给出一些具体的例子，这样会更加容易理解，或一下子抓到要义。例如gun control，immigration policy，equal pay etc.这些就是美国两党政治中最典型的red meat，这样理解red meat就妥妥的了。其实这个意义非常类似于hot button
