杀鸡骇猴的最贴切的翻译

刚才偶然看到一个短语 make an example of sb，这个完全对应杀鸡骇猴，而那些啥Killing the chicken to frighten the monkeys; Beat the dog before the lion; 要么是属于literal translation，要么就是英语中根本就不存在的所谓idiom，而这个用法非常贴切、地道

要编写出一部“nearly perfect dictionary”决不能靠几个小编或是一小撮砖家，也不能使用wiki或urban dictionary那种“wild west”模式，而是必须建立一个互动机制，读者对某个词典的解释或翻译等有异议或者建议可以有个渠道发送给该词典的官方机构，然后由小编和砖家主持peer review，有道理就revise and upgrade，如此，才有可能达到这个目的
