[继续吐槽]Microsoft Bing Dictionary 的一条例句汉译问题
proximate中文的释义没有什么大问题，简单明了。但例句里有一条的翻译很不能让人信服:
The public prosecutor must prove the defendant's act was the proximate cause of the injury.
检察官必须证明被告的行为是造成伤害的近因。
这儿的proximate cause翻译成“近因”不符合语境和我们的使用习惯。
参见朗文词典中释义的第一条:
1a proximate cause is a direct one
所以，译成直接原因更为准确。
