从这个解释，不能断定是租用的含义。
短时占有或持有他人的某个东西（如果免费使用呢？） 参考一下他家对tenant的定义

这条义项是法律用语：不动产保有人，持有人（主要通过抵押方式）。
其实，加上分号后面的部分就对了，但是，通常分号表示不同含义的并置：
one who has the occupation or temporary possession of lands or tenements of another;
specifically : one who rents or leases (as a house) from a landlord
应该是，MW认为，占用人的含义更普遍，我也是瞎猜。 mw最喜欢是用自已解译自已或变形一下。。。
