双重释义，先总结词条的义项是什么，而后才解释前面总结的内容。
例如:
算盘
计算的工具:一种有珠子，可以移动珠子来计算账目的工具。
计算的工具是总结，后面是解释。
encarta是non-esl词典，不过对于esl来说，它的特点是简单明了。 第二版encarta world english，英版叫做Bloomsbury English Dictionary，美版叫做Encarta Webster's Dictionary，两部词典都是足本encarta英文词典，两者差异估计是地名这些词条吧。
这个词典最大的特点是采用双重释义，对第二语言学习者为英文的有很大帮助。

我有第一版的英版和美版，两者的差异非常的大，连普通词汇收入的都有不同，除了插图是一致的。
这书真的是奇葩，不仅英美版差异大，一版和二版的也是差异的很大，更有意思的是，和简明版的也有很多不同的地方，简版里面有些栏目足本里面反而没有。 白夜 发表于 2018-10-19 11:53

encarta world english dictionary的编者主要有美国人、英国和澳洲人。美国和英国的出版社不同，词汇收入之间不同也合理。
第二版美版encarta是根据bloomsbury的database修改的，估计两者差异不大。
简版根据足版改的，自由发挥加入一些栏目还是可以的。
encarta英汉双解词典在翻译bloomsbury第二版简版时也加入了新词。 流星冲击 发表于 2018-10-19 11:22

AHD是样式大部分是 解释+例句，并不是双重释义。
encarta的的双重释义，上面11楼的例子很清楚。
算盘的总结的解释是计算的工具，如果看不懂总结还有后面对总结的辅助解释，所以这种简明解释的特点对esl帮助很大。总结解释和辅助解释+一些例句说明+义项的应用领域，目前没有什么词典是采用这种方式来编写的，编者可谓对esl用心良苦。Macmillan词典有部分词条是采用双重释义，不过很少词条才用到，而encarta全篇都是采用双重释义。 有些怪怪的，可能适用人群不一样 第一次听说这本词典，不了解它的特点。 流星冲击 发表于 2018-10-19 12:42

encarta是这样解释的:
1.counting device: a mechanical device for making calculations consisting of a frame mounted with rods along which beads or balls are moved

goodwordguide有相当部分是“双重释义”，不过总结部分多数是同义词。

后者的解释对ESL的帮助更大。
