感觉这样的释义写的有问题

本帖最后由 喝杯好9 于 2018-11-29 21:44 编辑

The adjective audacious comes from the Latin word audacia and means "daring, boldness, courage," and often gets applied in situations where someone does something pretty unusual, ...

从这个句子的结构来看,means的主语是the adjective audacious,既然audacious本身是形容词性,那么在解释这个词的时候,也只能以形容词性的表达方式来释义,而daring, boldness, courage这个三个词都是名词。这样的释义方式是不对的。
我感觉作者其实是想说audacia 的意思是 daring, boldness, courage, 如果真是这样,那也不能用and来连接了,只能改成定语从句,

I agree with you, 好酒. It's an error, I think so too. And it's great of you to find it. ‘And’ there in the sentence should have been 'which', or 'boldness, courage' been bold, courageous'.

还是牛津的词源讲得够严谨(from oxford living dictionaries online by fearfare090807)

这个应该是没有问题的,这个词,虽然是形容词,但是在词源中,它首先是一个“词”,所以可以做主语,然后用后面的名词给出解释。
