一道英语选择题，关于动词haunt的用法

The mountain was____ many animals, such as wolves, badges and rabbits once haunted but now it is so silent.
A) that place
B) where
C) what
D) then
答案是B
这道题答案选什么不重要。关键是 haunt 本身只能用作及物动词，
例如: It has bee said that a female ghost in the form of a young woman has been haunting that grim, long-abandoned house, where the mistress's maid hung herself many decades ago. Her dried-up body, midair with two pale lips slightly apart and two glassy eyes unclosed, was discovered in the gloomy basement three days after she went missing.
而where是从句中的地点状语，如此一来haunt就没有了宾语，成了不及物动词的用法了啊。

题中原句可能是某位“砖家”自个儿硬造出来的，仅仅“such as wolves, badgers and rabbits, once...”这一部分就犯下拼写、标点上的两种低级错误，那么用到 haunt 不及物这种较罕见的说法也不足为怪了。所以个人认为没有必要纠结于这种病句。 如果原句不是这样写又该如何写？假如允许你改，你会改成什么？
在我看来，原句没有任何问题。
你好像是被所谓“地点状语”困扰了，所以你可以把这个抛开一边。
可以把它当宾语吗？ 如果还原： Many animals haunted the mountain.
此处 where = the / a place + that haunt过去分词修饰前面的名词，相当于省略了定语从句的主语和表语，(that were) haunted......有什么问题吗 haunt

where没有你说的这种用法
你说的这种用法是what的用法

这句子确实可以动一动。原句由两子句组成，“这是这样一座山，在这里曾经有诸如狼、獾、野兔等动物经常出没”+“但是现在这山是如此的寂静”。既然写成了两句，就应前后对称，前句应写这山不平静，后句写很平静。现在前部分写不平静的“现象”，后部分写“平静”，所以适合改成一个独立的句子。
The mountain, where many animals such as wolves, badgers and rabbits once haunted, is so silent now.

1.where关系从句可作插入语修饰主词mountain；
2.haunt在where句子中是及物动词很正常，如果关系句子中where实例化一下就清楚了
People say ghosts haunt that old house.

haunt作为及物动词 是常常出现，常去，这2种意思。。。haunt是可以作为不及物动词的 它的意思是linger , stay around, persist.这3种意思，是徘徊 逗留 很明显 句子中是第2种意思不是常去 而是在那里生活 参见 the merriam-webster dictionary
