Today's Challenge. 今天的听力挑战
本帖最后由 pan 于 2020-10-6 12:43 编辑Background: In Junuary 2009, a passenger plane was forced to crash-land on a freezingly cold river in the New York city after some birds accidentally barged into the plane's both engines. The pilot and the rest of the crew miraculously landed the plane safely on the river at zero casualty.
A movie was later made based on the event, starring Tom Hanks.

.. the pilot is a guy blessed with talent, years of experience, and an innate sense of time and distance, lift and aerodynamics. He's able to bring the nose up and skim the river with the tail, precisely slowing the plane so it settles flat. Too much, the jetliner will break apart. Too little, it will go in nose-first and sink like a stone - or flip. It comes down at early rush hour when ferries are plying the river. Instantly, captains change course and in minutes are plucking passengers off that wing.
Was all of that a miracle? No, but it was part of it. thanks for sharing
