牛津在线 疑似例句分类错误
dispatch 有 kill 的意思，但是这个例句 ... were dispatched to work at death camps 中的这个 dispatch 明显不是kill的意思，而是 ”派遣到哪里“的意思。所以例句分类有错误 本帖最后由 mxh3698 于 2021-1-8 11:07 编辑

那如果我把这里的 dispatched 换成 assigned ，那assign 这个动词是不是也有 ”杀死”的意思了呢？ 我说过了，这里可以看做一种figure of speech,一种euphemism，是一种语言文化背景下的惯用说法，它的确可以conveniently地理解成kill，牛津没有弄错。至于你说把dispatch替换成assign, 且不说可不可以替换，你看一下这个词后面的例句，arriving rangers has to dispatch two of the animals,如果这个句子可以改写成arriving rangers has to assign two of the animals而意思未做改变的话，那么就可以替换，那么assign就有kill的含义，但是显然这样做意义变了，这个意项下所有例句中的dispatch都不能够替换成assign而意义不便。 小白听不懂。。
