epic ≈ 可歌可泣
本帖最后由 klwo2 于 2021-7-7 23:06 编辑一看见 epic 这个词，英汉词典就说「史诗」。当形容词使的时候呢？机器翻译就说「史诗般的」「史诗级」，什么史诗级失败啦，史诗级威胁啦，频频亮相外媒汉译，仿佛读者没去看过《伊利亚特》，就不配明白这外文的意思。
其实 epic 某些语境下，可以译作「可歌可泣」，原因如下：
新牛津：
1 Relating to or characteristic of an epic or epics.
1.1 Heroic or grand in scale or character.
1.2 Particularly impressive or remarkable.
某些时候，epic 的内涵跟「可歌可泣」是对得上的。汉语成语源流大辞典：
「可歌可泣」未必直接来自周易，但「歌」「泣」「涕」「诵」可以并列，问题不大，周易原句说的是战事，正好《伊利亚特》也不缺战争。

从字源来讲，“可歌”没问题。“可泣”就比较难讲了。
