Novels, in the proper sense of the word, are not written to vanish in a month or a year. That most of them do, today, thatthey are written and published as if they were magazines, to fade as rapidly, is one of the sorriest aspects of today's literature, and one of the clearest indictments of its dorminant esthetic philosophy:oncrete-bounded, ...

that most of them do

可以写成“That most of them are done"吗? rualantonio 发表于 2021-8-29 10:49

考虑到谓语是单数is one of the,所以第一个that是主语,第二个that 是同位语。

From this simplest necessity to the highest religious abstraction, from the wheel to the skyscraper, everything we are and everything we have comes from a single attribute of man — the function of his reasoning mind.

Novels, in the proper sense of the word, are not written to vanish in a month or a year.
