21世纪推迟，使延迟，使延期，延缓：
The driver delayed the drive until the weather cleared.
驾驶员延迟到天气转晴后才出车。
2. 延误；拖延，延迟，耽搁，阻滞：
The dense fog delayed the plane's start.
浓雾延误了飞机的起飞。
真的看不出有什么区别，主动推迟和被迫推迟？
英英词典也是这个样，比如WBD：

1 to put off till a later time:

2 to make late; keep waiting; hinder the progress of:
➾The accident delayed the train for two hours.
➾Ignorance delays progress. 一个是暂时取消，一个是延迟，让等待(但没有取消)
