Interesting point. Grammatically speaking, it is ok to interchange what you're suggesting. But 'depressed' as an adj. should be expecting an adj. counterpart, in this case 'comfortable'.
Or if you really need to change it, then I would leave out the 'otherwise' word. Intuitive suggests… No why. Don't ask, don't tell…
