关于限制性与非限制性定语从句

比如翻译，我妈妈今年50岁了，和我住在一起。

第一句话应该是中文想表达的意思。
而第二句的意思却是：（我有很多个母亲）今年50岁的那个母亲现在和我住在一起。

关于这个知识点，不知道大家有没有注意过。或者平时自己写作的时候有没有注意这一点。

我觉得第二句，不一定有“我有很多个母亲”的意思。

根据一些语法书，“限制性定语从句”与“非限制性定语从句”的主要区别是，“限制性定语从句” 添加的描述的是维持句子完整的意思所需要的；“非限制性定语从句” 添加的是额外的补充，可以放在括号里面，删除后也不影响句子的意思。

按照一般的理解，“限制性定语从句”更多的是具有指示意味，用定语从句指出来是哪一个特定对象。
但是，在科研论文中，我个人感觉并不是这样。
