" Z% p0 [0 |) j" C+ p# o$ b& t搞不好原文作者想指的是凯恩斯在那书里的简短难懂的话语。因为凯恩斯是伟人嘛，虽然言简意不赅，他写的可能总会有那么点道理，所以委婉地说是 gnomic ，又加了个 somewhat 。

如果原始文章中的那个 gnomic 可以用上面这个义项来理解的话，就是说凯恩斯的《通论》写的太像箴言了以致都到达让人费解的程度了，不知道这样理解对不对？

不过查了许多词典，貌似没几本词典收录这个义项。SOED6、OED2、韦氏新国际、韦氏大学11、柯林斯、WBD...都没有收。

其实，OALD4对gnomic的解释就很好，而OALD8双解反而解释的让人无法把握该词的真正含义：
大概，《道德经》中"道可道非常道"之类的便属这种情况吧，虽然字都认识，但是真正解释清除比较麻烦。

OALD8：

Webster's New World College Dictionary的解释则完全是正面的，我一直没有搞懂，新世界词典为什么被美联社视为权威，就是MED和CALD的解释都比它清楚。

这不过是翻译造成的感情色彩不同。
看看MWCD9：
1.Characterized by aphorism(=short wise saying)不就是格言、警句吗？当然是精辟、睿智之类的褒义，而且这条释义MWCD9注明词义早在1815年就有（不排除后来的词义发展变化），英美词典看法也未必一致。

的确，个人认为，美式英语对gnomic的解释为褒义，基本意思是含格言的，精炼的；英式英语，偶尔含贬义，含有模糊不清，言语故意高深莫测，使之神秘，有炫耀嫌疑。
