It is much too important to be reduced to a bunch of trivial don't-do-this prescriptions by a pair of idiosyncratic bumblers who can't even tell when they've broken their own misbegotten rules.
我觉得骂得很有道理。
The Elements of Style 最大的成功，在于销量。那三大注意八项纪律式的内容，告诉读者不能做什么，prescriptive 风格，挺适合懒人的。

this piece by pullum is outrageously provocative. strunk and white's little book is a bit rigid and mouldy though, it does its job being straightforward and assertive. my motto is, is that always keep everything in moderation. particularly when it comes to writing and grammar, there're no hard-and-fast rules that cannot be broken. {:4_97:}
