severable和end
本帖最后由 elusty 于 2016-3-17 18:00 编辑今天查法律用语serverable(合同条款可有效分割并继续执行)，发现Cambridge使用了end这个比较奇怪的词。

severable:
if a contract is severable, it can be ended:
The goods may be delivered in instalments, but the contract is not severable.
从字面看，end是可结束（终止）合同的意思，这是不对的。但是，我又从WBD看到下面的解释：
end:
to bring to its last part...
W3：
end:
obsolete : to carry out : perform fully 在这里end应该就是表示结束的意思，查AHD，severable表示 Capable of being severed or separated。再查ODE，sever第二个义项是，Put an end to (a connection or relationship); break off:
也就是说sever就是表示终止，severable表示可以终止或分割的。剑桥用end肯定不是想表示执行的意思，至于您说的“继续执行”，只是分割后的动作。 本帖最后由 elusty 于 2016-3-17 21:56 编辑

不过，事实上，按照常理，任何合同和协议都是可以ended(终止，结束，废止，失效)的，所以没有必要用这个词来解释severable.
The goods may be delivered in instalments, but the contract is not severable.
