从一个phrase引出的词性问题
今天遇到一个phrase：old school，查了下词典，大多数标出的词性为n，牛高标出的是adj，当然这个词还不足以显示phrase的词性问题，因为n也可以作为modifier，相当于adj了，但是很多时候phrase是没有标出词性的，而恰恰不少phrase词性复杂，例如同时可以做adj和adv的情况，理解没问题，自己用恐怕就要斟酌斟酌了。本帖的要点是：phrase的词性如何决定？ 延伸思考一下，各大汉语词典，为什么成语不加词性...... 也许对于没有标注词性的phrase只能根据例句来确定其词性了，结合其解释？ 这个只能根据具体使用环境判断了，作主语和宾语，当然是名词；作前置定语当然就是形容词。具体到我们，只能多看多查了。我们并不知道英美人实际如何使用。 其实我想引出的主要观点是：为啥phrase往往不标注词性？这个问题以前一直被我忽视，知道自己要使用的时候才意识到。
这是一个有意思的问题，可以写篇（本）博士论文了。

On 21 September 2007, 16,000 words lost their hyphens in a Sixth Edition of the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary. Angus Stevenson, editor of the Shorter OED, stated the reason: "People are not confident about using hyphens anymore, they're not really sure what they are for." Its researchers reviewed 2 billion words (in newspapers, books, web sites and blogs from 2000). Bumble-bee is now bumblebee, ice-cream is ice cream and pot-belly is pot belly, etc.

People are not confident about using hyphens anymore, they're not really sure what they are for.这个句子同样出现了用comma连接2个主句的错误？这个问题是在是困惑啊，到底啥时候算对？有没有最新权威说法？按理说这些家伙都是顶级语言学家，不应该犯如此低级错误。 对于可能的复合名词，加不加hyphen，或者是分开拼写还是连在一起（没有空格），这个也是个非常让人困惑的问题，而且不少词典给出的还经常不一样，看来这个问题只能参考最新的OED的online才算有把握。这些家伙干嘛不开个国际会议统一取消或者统一不取消，没有规则不乱不困惑才怪。 Littlebush 发表于 2016-9-20 22:34

除了作为形容词、副词使用的短语需要标注，很多短语都是作为名词短语，单看解释就知道了，没必要标吧。中文成语、习语在词典里也没标吧
