收集资料，弄出一本词典来……

这个口号有点大了。论坛上以前有人发帖，提议编一部《22世纪大英汉词典》……
然而我想大家的母语多半不是英语，可能有些细枝末节的地方没法弄清。
对于能弄清的，我来收集点资料。
主要根据《21世纪大英汉词典》。

编一部《22世纪大英汉词典》楼主这个提议好，其实21就是旁征博引的，我们可以根据英汉大和必应词典网页版，又可以新增谚语an army marches on its stomach

例句可以用googlebooks上的例子，精挑细选。
可以放到Wiktionary上，这个平台很好。

来自googlebooks的调查表明：
be taken aback常用于一般过去时，肯定陈述句
后接at、by、when引导的时间状语、that引导的从句
常见修饰语有 a little, a bit, quite, momentarily
这大概是很多书上没有的

修饰语还有somewhat, completely, totally
当然这只是个人的直观感觉，严谨的数据支撑有赖于统计学
