提几个问题

My home is only a twenty-minute walk from New Oriental School.
My home is only twenty minutes' walk from New Oriental School.
请问这两个写法都正确么？

A, words
B, a word
C, the word
D, word
答案应该是D，为什么？
3）The letter was short because there wasn't ____.
A, many news
B, much news
C, a lot news
D, a lot of news
答案给了much news，但是a lot of news 不对么？ 关于第三个，说一句，语言的使用习惯有时候比语法更强大，语法为什么越来越从规定性向描述性转变，就是顺应语言使用，而不是强行要求语言必须使用。所以，多读书永远是有益的。 本帖最后由 elusty 于 2018-2-20 22:30 编辑
如果仅从“新闻”考虑，两个都对；但是，如果是指事件的内容丰富和多寡而言，应该用much更好，指的是有价值的、有趣的东西、干货。
此外，口语表达，个人倾向于much比a lot of用得多些。
下面是一个新闻报道的书中的句子，可做参考，much news和a lot of news在同一段出现了，说明两者均可用，但是原文也有上述细微差异。
* 另外，much多用于疑问句和否定句，在这种情况下，其使用频率远高于a lot of.
** 英式英语认为，a lot of太过非正式，所以较为正式场合，最好用much或a great deal of等短语。
***Longman Active English Dictionary有这样一段说明：
GRAMMAR
much, a lot of
In sentences that are not negative and not questions, use a lot of rather than much: There was a lot of traffic. Do not say 'There was much traffic'. 第一个：都正确。
