关于ode的一个神奇例句的翻译！！翻译大佬请进～～
Blue]scarcely was the work completed than it was abandoned.作业刚一完成就被丢到一边了。
这里的scarcely ... than 有一。。。就的意思，ode2给出的解释是：刚完成就丢一边。 可是。。我查了个大词典abandon是中途废弃的意思，怎么可能是完成丢一边呢？鉴于abandon是个贬义词，不太可能，应该是还没完成就放弃问题先一搁。。。让我想起初中语法：hardly 。。。When No sooner 。。。 than 的固定搭配。。。 那么这里用than对scarcely ode2给出一个例句scarcely ... before 都翻译成就 就可以。
而言归正传：scarcely又有两个意思一个是刚刚 一个是几乎不， 所以这里鉴于abandon的意思以及disappoval之意，应该翻成作业还没完成(还没怎么动呢){这里scarceLy取几乎不意思}就遗弃不做了。
这仅仅是我个人见解，希望大家各抒己见，给我指点迷津！
原文：scarcely was the work completed than it was abandoned.
译文：一完活就把它抛到九霄云外了。（一..,就... scarcely开头要用倒装句） 楼主你这么纠结，主因我看是新牛津说work 是「作业」……

喏？work意义这么丰富，哪能照着想「常理」呢 楼主想太多

Usage Note: Scarcely has the force of a negative and is therefore regarded as incorrectly used with another negative, as in I couldn't scarcely believe it. · A clause following scarcely is properly introduced by when or before; the use of than is usually changed by copyeditors: The meeting had scarcely begun when (or before but not than) it was interrupted. See Usage Notes at double negative, hardly.

仔细读了，可是明明你自己可以解决这个问题。比方说，你说查了本大词典，发现abandon有个释义是说半途而废，可其实abandon还有其他的释义，大多数词典的第一条释义都是desert。
比如 Collins：
to forsake completely; desert; leave behind
⇒ to abandon a baby
⇒ drivers had to abandon their cars
为什么不取这个词义，而舍近求远，非要取“半途而废”的词义？
所以我说你想太多。
再说说我为什么贴个scarcelyAHD上的用法。对照Longman来看比较好理解：
朗文的释义这一条下面给的例句，就是scarcely和when连用。
2only a moment ago SYNhardly, barely:
He had scarcely sat down when there was a knock at the door.
这句不是说：他还没坐下，就听到一阵敲门声。而是，他刚坐下，敲门声就响了。
所以楼主的例句，就是说，刚刚，……就丢掉……
