一处完成时的使用

I PLAYED football there for two years until an untimely knee injury forced me out of the game.

请问这里可以使用过去完成时么？I had played ... until ... forced me ...

这种用法，牛津实用英语语法里面也讲过，楼主给的上下文也说的挺清楚的。
张胜满的语法很好：发生在过去的一段时间，没有持续到现在，经常用一般过去时。

用过去完成时应该也是可以的，不过过去式的这种用法就挺好了。

表示只发现可以在后半句用过去完成时表示强调。。。

until引导一个时间状语从句，主句和从句谓语时态一致；had done单独使用可以，不可跟until从句连用，前后矛盾或有转折语义。had done表示过去已经踢过三年（那以后还在踢）
后面有until从句语义终止，不能使用。

For 3 years看似是一段时间，但是后面有until这个词儿管辖着，就是一个点了。
