这句的facing hospital是什么用法？

这样的问题用韦氏高阶来回答是最合适的。
韦氏高阶对于词汇的两方面分类是极为出色的：1名词可数不可数 2动词及物不及物
楼主的问题显然属于第二种
注意到韦氏高阶对于动词face划分出了2，3两条释义
其中2的语义是“主语主动的去face，有主观去应对的含义”
而3的语义却是“主语被动的face什么东西，只是问题本身实实在在摆在眼前了，没有主语要去deal with的含义”
所以
You have to FACE your problem.
This is now the problem FACEing you.
这两个句子语义就产生差异了。
可以这样理解：ing是逻辑主语主动发出的，例如problems facing hospitals, 主动的就是problems，可翻译为医院“遭遇”问题（医院被动）；hospitals facing problems，主动的就是hospitals，可翻译为医院“面对”问题（医院主动）。 朗文当代里面，face作动词，第一个义项有三种表示方法：
if you face or are faced with a difficult situation, or if a difficult situation faces you, it is going to affect you and you must deal with it 面临〔困难〕，面对〔困境〕

1. 表示“无意识的面对”，通常不用人作主语、事物作宾语，而是以事物作主语，人作宾语:

4. “无意识地面对”，也可以采取face或confront的被动语态（仍然是第一类动词，表示延续状态），此时人作主语，抽象事物多用with，具体事物（但象征着困难）多用by引入：
As teachers we are now faced with a dilemma. 我们做老师的现在左右为难。/ I was confronted with the task of designing and building the new system. 我面临着设计并建构新系统的任务。/ When I am confronted by a microphone, my mind goes completely blank. 我一对着麦克风，脑子里就一片空白。/ Police were confronted by a group of demonstrators. 警察遇到一群示威者。
