韦氏的这个例句有问题么?
这个例句的用法我看着像及物动词啊,怎么会划分到 里去了呢? 本帖最后由 fydy01 于 2022-1-20 14:26 编辑We suffered a great deal during the war.我们在战争期间蒙受了巨大损失。
suffer作及物动词时,后面的宾语通常都是具体有所指的,比如suffer pain,suffer torture之类。单纯的a great deal若作名词,所指不明,没法作宾语,所以此处它只能是程度副词,作状语,修饰suffer。suffer不及物,指受到损失,受到损害的意思。
换言之,如果把a great deal所指的事物补充完整,那这里的suffer就变成了及物动词,相应地,a great deal就变成宾语了。比如:
We suffered a great deal of pain during the war.我们在战争期间遭受了巨大的痛苦。

应该是两种都说得过去,但是名词可以做副词。
When Nouns or a Noun Phrases act as adverbials, they describe “time, place, quantify or manner”.
This is a reference which discusses this issue:https://learningenglish.voanews.com/a/everyday-grammar-adventures-with-adverbials-part-2/3521224.html
Examples quoted in that reference are:
1. He arrived this morning.
2. He is riding home.
3. He travels a great deal.
动词后面的是副词词组,做状语,非宾语 需要补习中学英语语法 程度副词
