关于属格的用法，钱歌川和张满胜的解释不一样

钱歌川认为这里的属格用法是错误的，因为 prisoner's execution 只能表达“犯人执行别人的死刑，而不是被执行死刑", 这里只能说 the execution of the prisoner

钱歌川是说 the prisoner's execution 可主可宾，有歧义。他生活的年代往前数几百年，the execution of the prisoner 的使用率明显更高。而现在这俩使用率已经不相上下了，默认都是宾格。Practical English Usage 有例句 the prisoner's release (they released the prisoner)
