find sth +adj，或find it +adj+ (to do) 用法疑惑

让我开始产生困惑的句子大概是下面这样的（非母语使用者书写）：
With the help of multimedia, teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard or even impossible in the past.

Teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard (to demonstrate) or even impossible (to demonstrate).

按照上面的逻辑，to demonstrate是可以省略的部分，但是这个to do结构存在与否，似乎会影响对这个句子的理解？即：
Teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard. 教师可展示【他们原本认为困难的】内容。

补充1：造成这个情况的条件似乎比较苛刻，涉及将形式宾语引入最基本的find sth +adj结构（意为“对某事物有何观感”，延续感觉，带主观色彩，第一类动词[见陈用仪《英语常用词疑难用法手册》]），从而转化为find it +adj+ to do sth，然后将其名词化，嵌套在更高一级的分句之下，且主句的谓语和find it +adj+ to do sth结构中的do相同（否则无法省略）。
