find sth +adj，或find it +adj+ (to do) 用法疑惑

让我开始产生困惑的句子大概是下面这样的（非母语使用者书写）：
With the help of multimedia, teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard or even impossible in the past.

这句话本身应该是没问题的吧（？），只能认为是省略了to demonstrate，所以局部的完整句就是：
Teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard (to demonstrate) or even impossible (to demonstrate).

vs
Teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard to demonstrate. 教师可展示【他们原本认为很难展示的】内容。

如果认为这个句子的两种语义差别还不够明显，或者不至于产生理解差异的话，进一步去掉可能影响句义理解的时态标记（can demonstrate...found）并更换动词，写出如下句子：

They must tell us what they find hard (to tell).   [如果认为这句话显得奇怪的话，也可写作They must tell us what they find to be hard. ]

按上面的理解，有无to tell岂不就会产生两种语义差别较大的解释了：

补充2：(?)They must tell us what they find hard to. 这个句子似乎就没有歧义，不过提问关注的是没有句末的to时的歧义情况。
