It’s still unclear whether anyone else has noticed this breach of trust from the Merriam-Webster company or even cares.

% V7 p- a5 Z+ W' u8 s* M大多数买MWC的人，包括那些声称该词典多精确、多全面的人，恐怕买回家主要是用来积灰或者打蟑螂。。。Palmer觉得他戏弄了广大读者，其实恐怕只有一个人参与了游戏，这个人还是个obsessive compulsive患者。。。谁更可笑呢？

我发现英语老鸟常用MWC的还真是不多，看过很多知名翻译、知名学者的博客、访谈，有常用Collins Cobuild、OALD、LDOCE的，有把CALD背下来的，有经常翻WNWCD、ODE、W3、SOED的，还真没看到有谁把MWC作为主力词典

感觉这词典似乎没有根据语料库增删释义，常常漏收比较新的用法，大约还停留在上个世纪的水平

这个词在Fowler's Modern English Usage 2nd 是不正确的(mis-spellings)，应该是tranquillity

而查vocabulary.com的时候，词典把这两个词都收录了（tranquility和tranquillity）。词频显然后者高。有意思的是，这两个词的文字解释竟然不一样，但似乎都表示同一种含义
