搞不好原文作者想指的是凯恩斯在那书里的简短难懂的话语。因为凯恩斯是伟人嘛，虽然言简意不赅，他写的可能总会有那么点道理，所以委婉地说是 gnomic ，又加了个 somewhat 。

《新世纪》的翻译更保守点，《柯林斯》可能有点偏离原意。

gnomic 这词有点明褒暗贬的意味啊。

看看MWCD9：
9 w* d! K/ |" r9 g/ G' b1.Characterized by aphorism(=short wise saying)不就是格言、警句吗？当然是精辟、睿智之类的褒义，而且这条释义MWCD9注明词义早在1815年就有（不排除后来的词义发展变化），英美词典看法也未必一致。

的确，个人认为，美式英语对gnomic的解释为褒义，基本意思是含格言的，精炼的；英式英语，偶尔含贬义，含有模糊不清，言语故意高深莫测，使之神秘，有炫耀嫌疑。
