我理解的就是，to 是主观（I）， for 是客观。
LDOCE: He said that money was not important to him.
LDOCE: Nothing could be more important to me than my family.
OALD: It's very important to me that you should be there.

MED: Your interest and support are important to your child.

一般对人用to，对事物用for。
for sb. to do另当别论。

下面帖子的简要意思，to表示方向性，指对某人而言；for表示目的性，讲的是需求和利益。
