郎5英英、朗5双解和朗6英英的 accident 词条中，Common Errors「常见错误」栏目注明如下：

但是同样在这三本朗当中，本身就存在 a small accident 搭配的例子：6 k! u4 M* G3 f0 p# _

6 m& W3 Y/ P' u/ ?/ x这就让人摸不着头脑了。继续查 Oxford Collocations Dictionary for Students of English，第一版里 accident 词条下倒确实没列出 small 的搭配。但是第二版里却有：8 r* L/ e7 |' p& t* X: Y$ H

--> 查牛津高阶7,8,9，其中的 mishap 的释义中也均出现了 a small accident 的用法。; C+ p- [* O% _/ ?" N2 L5 X
--> 另外，BYU-BNC 和 BYU-COCA 里搜 small accident，各有三个结果。
8 @$ s: C% v1 O" s--> 顺道还查了坛子里下载的 Longman Dictionary of Common Errors，发现 accident 词条下的例子是"a big accident"错误，而"a serious accident"正确，没有举 small 的例子：7 y. h3 H7 G: d

! z+ k$ d8 q e) vHer car was involved in a serious accident.
, J% k% n: ~2 e3 ^: g" E; Ia bad/dreadful/nasty/serious/fatal accident (NOT big)

% L( O. L6 q$ ^/ y7 m" W) v) S那么问题来了，作为英语非母语者，正式/非正式场合下，a small accident 这个搭配究竟可以使用吗？抑或用是可以用，但是不建议？为什么不建议？（为什么词典里自己都这么用？） |
