Traditionally due to should be restricted to adjectival use; hence, it should usually be followed with a to be verb. In that sense due means attributable.

- due to modifies a noun (you will probably need a to be verb for it)# O9 I4 N5 y& s5 z! }! L! D4 _
- because of modifies a verb (you have already a verb in the sentence for it)
