The ghost of Banquo appears to Macbeth (the character Macbeth) and previously Macbeth ordered Banquo's death. I've found no mistake here (neither grammatical nor logical)...

Given this sentence alone, I think it is grammatically correct because you can infer that the whole book was written in present tense.
