看到一句句子，怪怪的

请问这里there is 充当什么成分啊？为什么要加there is啊？

3 d. |( M; d% \* ]1 m+ Vthere is  是个限制性关系从句 restrictive relative clause（所谓后置定语从句？），意味着这个 best exercise 是“现有的”best exercise，如果没有 there is 就没有这个限制，那这个 best exercise 就可能是曾经（被认为）的best exercise，以后的best exercise，空前绝后的best exercise，都有可能了（楼上提出的含 there was 的例句可以说明）。当然实际上主句用了谓语动词 is （Regular running is......），这在很大程度上决定了是“现有的”best exercise，不太可能是其它含义，否则句子多别扭。于是 there is 就有点冗余和强调的感觉，可能也正是楼主觉得它不很必要的原因？以上从语义上来讲。从语法结构来看，如果被修饰的名词（best exercise）在关系从句（there is）中相当于主语，比如本例，这时关系引导词（that, which, who等）是不该省略的。但是这里的关系从句是 there 引导的存在句，恐怕就特殊一些，毕竟 there 作为 dummy subject（形式主语？），也分担了一部分主语的功能，而在这里即使关系引导词被省略了，也不会引起断句错误，因此就把 the best exercise that/which there is 的 that/which 省略了。【一点胡诌，谨供参考】

应为定从。可以参考下以下这段话：

7 O) J) P7 r6 u0 I+ g( v! E问题是这个there is 是在上半句啊，不是在下半句啊。而且我抽出来的这句不是口语，是一篇文章的一句句子。当然年代可能有点久远。上世纪40 50年代的。可是语法上，也没差那么多吧。there is 可以做定语修饰前面的名词吗？没见过这种结构。怪！

是啊，我也奇怪啊。我觉得这句句子的意思大致是：定期跑步是现有锻炼中最好的锻炼方法，是保持健康的关键。

这里有两个it， 第一个it 是指psychological benefit吗？第二个it指的是running.可是作者为什么要这样写呢？两个it放在一句句子中，指的又是不一样的事物？
