apprize的“知晓”含义？

这里的apprize跟后文的know相对应，应该是“知晓”含义？
但查了好几个词典，除了《新世纪英汉大词典》英英释义的前两个有此know含义

-increase the value of
其他词典都是放在value含义上。
那么《新世纪英汉大词典》的这个含义是从何而来的呢？

可能是编者弄混了apprise和apprize，以为ise和ize是英式和美式的区别。prise和prize是不同的词根。
