这很简单，不用太纠结语法。只要你知道初中学的is there an apple?和what is your name？就解决了。前者在问某物存在与否，后者在问某物的具体内容，其区别当然就显而易见了。

0 u& r$ z. Q% e9 _5 k& L' O0 R如果非要纠结语法，你会发现What is there that is not poison?其实就是既问存在又问具体内容，为什么会出现这种现象呢？因为本句的语法结构很特殊，what既是主句there is的形式表语问存在、又是定语从句 that is not poison的实际主语（特殊先行词）问内容.这也是你困惑的点位，本句必须两点（即，存在和内容）同时出现才能达到本句该有的含义。如果你觉得懵，还是刚才那句“不用太纠结语法”，本句结构特殊记住含义便可。

问存在和问定义的区别，即“存在什么不是毒吗？”和“什么 不是‘毒’？”，后者在中文里有歧义。定义是抽象的概念，存在是具体事物，在这个例子里两个问题的答句大有不同，问存在的what is there可以回答“苹果不是毒”，但问定义的what is则需要答句主语是抽象概念，例如“人食用后而无害的不是毒”。反问句容易有歧义，这里不妨去考察没有否定词的问句，反而容易明白，比如what is there that is red?和what is red?，前者的意思是“那儿有个红的东西是什么？”（原来做的这个翻译好像有问题，what is there应该是全指而不是特指，所以意思应该是“什么东西是红的”）后者的意思是“红色是什么？”

其实我知道原话是想说有什么东西不具有毒性。可是我看着用there is 感觉有点怪。为什么不用has能？别说有生命，没生命的区别啊。一张桌子四条腿。A table has four legs. 有见过说A table there is 4 legs的吗？

我觉得细究的话有点区别。what is there that is not poison?针对的是有人认为there is something that is not poison.,因而问what is there 。。。？有一种对话感。意思是“如果你一定要说什么东西无毒，那么请你告诉我。”而what is not poison？听上去更强硬，意思是“什么不是毒药？”

“有什么不是毒药？”和“世上存在的有什么不是毒药？”的区别吧。但这第二句我翻译的有问题，我更倾向“那不是毒药的是什么呢？”
