I believe it's another example of bad journalism.

I see. They could've proofread it before feeding it to their subscribers, couldn't they?

cold off 是调侃。

... yeah, I think it might be "cold him off the campaign trail". To cold some off means to make someone cool down from what he/she was zealous/overenthusiastic about, to throw cold water on someone's blanket. The idea fits the context.

Only my two cents.

No idea. I have never heard of this term before.

See, I am no fan of Trump's. I may do a dictation practice on news concerning him or two, that's when such stories happen to come my way, but I'll definitely not bother to seek out anything about this man.

I say we let go of this one. There are a lot more stories out there that are more interesting and better worth the time.

By "... dictation practice on news concerning him", I meant my "Trump's leaving the hospital" pieces. They came my way. I didn't bother to seek them out for practice.

Just in case this may be the explanation you were looking for.

in spoken English, it is quite alright, but not so in written English，which should stick to the straight and narrow, so to speak. better err on the side of pedantry, hehe.

All right. Point taken. Thanks.
