sleeping是现在分词，做后置定语，不是动名词或什么状语。句子的意思是阳光照在正在睡觉的猫身上，而不是照在猫的睡觉上，逻辑上不通。如果是动名词是指猫在睡觉这件事，而不是猫本身。
