If a person or thing is the worse for something, they have been harmed or badly affected by it. If they are none the worse for it, they have not been harmed or badly affected by it.

这是 COBUILD Advanced English Dictionary 对 the worse/none the worse for sth 的解释。你把程度词 none 换成 much 就行了。

注意，本例中 for 意思是 as a result of，见 The Cambridge Grammar of the English Language PDF 655 页。

相关短语：the worse for wear，the worse for drink。

so much the worse (for someone or something)
That is even worse (for a particular person or thing).
If their policy ends up crippling the working class, then so much the worse for their chances at remaining in power after the next elections.
