the first half of this sentence 指的不就是红笔标出的部分吗

而红笔标出的部分，中文意思不就是你大概读过哪些东西（借阅）吗？

列出候选书单，这种说法纯属瞎扯，哈哈

自己去想一想：good guess 是译成靠谱的答案更靠谱呢，还是译成你所译的靠谱呢？

把 conciseness 和 err on the shorter ends of their genres放到一起，你能得到什么答案？

至于err on the side of sth 什么意思，自己去查字典

修改一下——

所谓mixed literary feelings 指的是对同一个文学作品，既有喜欢的读者，也有不喜欢的读者。因此有一本本应上榜的书Goodnight Moon 就因为一位图书管理员很不喜欢，而将其下架。在其出版后25年才又重新上架，25年的空挡必然使得这本书在借阅量上吃了大亏。

考虑到mixed literary feelings 这一点，虽然Goodnight Moon 的借阅量很低，不足以上榜。但NYPL 还是给了这本书一个特别的殊荣。他们觉得要不是因为那个管理员，这本书的借阅量必然是可以上榜的。
