伦敦帝国理工学院的研究者认为，在一些国家，对艾滋病、结核病、疟疾进性治疗造成的连锁反应（就多少人为此丧命而言），可能跟covid-19在同一个数量级上。life lost是指可能由于治疗等而导致的预期生命受损而缩短，至于为什么用单数就跟苹果树说apple tree，复数的苹果树只会说apple trees, 而不会说apples tree是一样的道理。

就在直接危害和间接危害之间寻找平衡。关键在理解public health more broadly. 一开始我理解为传染， 后来理解为医疗资源被占用后引发的更大范围公共健康（其它病人得不到救治的更大范围），现在还是可以理解为传染。只不过这个传染不是covid-19本身直接造成的，而是由于covid-19占用了TB, AIDS等传染病的资源，使得这些病人得不到救治而间接引发的传染，即大范围公共健康。所以就像Eating Flower说的，是在 covid-19本身造成的危害和covid-19对经济和其它传染病造成的间接危害之间寻找平衡点。
